I do believe what is taught in high school needs to be broadened to include life skills such as insurance and basic finances. They should also include more exposure to the trades to help determine if that is the direction the student should go in life. Is high school worthless, no; we need an education system to advance our society and to not fall behind in this global economy. Is it worthless to some yes, but it is beneficial to society. I do believe exposure to history, culture and different things is part of the job of a high school, the more exposure the more rounded an individual you become and you may end up liking something you didn't realize you liked. Later in life it is harder to be exposed to these things, as work and family will dominate your life, so high school is the best time to do this.
