Subject: RE: Soybean FYI from St. Louis

Southwest Illinois
A fair amount of beans in that area(which is my area as well) were planted in early May. I know some who planted most of their beans and some who planted none in that window. I would guess somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2. So far our results and the results of several of my neighbors on these early plantings are best ever yields and in some cases by a lot. I still think the June plantings have the potential for 60 especially if they could catch a rain and the field rep from our seed production plant estimated our field of seed beans replanted on July 17 in a range of 48-52. While the corn yields have been pretty dependent on drainage, bean yields so far have not. So yes nearby there isn't a huge incentive for bean deliveries, but I think the volume is there and it will eventually come to market.
