Subject: RE: Cat C13 air compressor removal....

Between Omaha and Des Moines, 7 miles South of I80

I'm not "up-to-date" on C13 air compressors, but I remember that there was problems that occurred with the "unloader valve" inside the top of the air compressor and they were getting "gummed up" with carbon and fuel deposits, because they get their air supply from the cylinder head.

You might check, and see if the CAT dealer sells an unloader kit, for those air compressors. (WARNING: I do remember, that you MUST release all air pressure, from air compressor, DURING removal or inspection of that unloader valve, or it could shoot out, and poke your eye out !!!!!) Remove both small #4 air line and big #10 air line should make it safe.

I found a .pdf file, with better photos, and will attach that too.
