Subject: RE: Ray Carroll(Mo elevator)

Dawn, Missouri
Malta Bend is in Saline County, MO. Which is always in the top 10 counties in Missouri (out of 114). My ag teacher in college (Central Missouri State Univerisity) said back in the early 1970's that the best land in the state was around Malta Bend. They have a ethonal plant just outside of town. The next County north (Carroll County) has the largest acreage of Missouri River bottom land in the state of Missouri (also in the top 10). The next county east (Chariton county) is also in the top ten in soybean and corn production in MO. 100's of thousands of acres were in prevented planting in northern Missouri. Drive highway 36 from Hannibal (next ot IL) to St. Joseph, MO (next to Kansas) and you will get really bullish!
'Most of the good farm land in Missouri is north of I-70 except for the Bootheel which is great, but only 4 or 5 counties down there.
