Life's but a walking shadow | Don, did you notice on your graph of residuals, out of a total of 25 years of residuals you plotted, the five years for which the residuals exceeded 10 bu/A only once did the subsequent year's residual exceed zero and then only by a couple three bushel per acre. Simple probabilities would seem to suggest that it is highly unlikely this year's crop will exceed your projected trend value of 162 bushel per acre.
