Jesup, IA | There are only three years above a national yield of 160 bpa. 2004, 2009 & 2014. It takes more tile, precision technology, fungicide, etc. every year to keep the balloon floating.
2014 was a runaway yield of 171 bpa over previous highs of 160 & 164. That's because the Corn Belt hit on all 8 cylinders. Does it feel like we did this in 2015?
Not so much. Did 4 cylinders fire this year?
I'm with DJMCountryboy's 158 bpa est. It may take til the Jan report to get there. If we ever do.
P.S.Driving to Ames (C IA) yesterday to watch the Cyclones choke in the 4th quarter (ISU Coach Paul Rhodes needs to consider coming to run grain cart for me, vs. coaching football. 60 something yards rushing. Two games in a row without making adjustments? I couldn't farm that way!) the much lauded Iowa crop is fading way too soon. We will have corn, but the cream is souring on top of the milk. Driving up by Mason City today (NC IA), seeing the same thing. Dead corn in mid September. Not the finish intended
