Our experience is that want to keep it about 13.5% or below. Also in most cases it will lose some germination if stored over winter so keep that in mind. The rye seed in the picture was stored over winter i came up with about 83% germ, as compared to the rye we harvested this fall was at about 97%.
We usually like to plant about 32 live seeds per square foot for rye no-tilled into spring wheat stubble, that will be harvested for grain.
