Depends on how much we import. Recently we have been increasing our domestic production, and that is a good thing. Look at all the boom towns in the oil fields and you can certainly see how it affects the economy.
Like all commodities there is a fine point of balance between adequate supply and adequate demand, and we never achieve it.
Question for discussion.
