Northeast Nebraska and Candelaria Philippines | I'm out in California seling drought insurance to beekeepers. It paid out very well for the customers that bought it in 2015. Now, the media has everyone thinking that it's going to rain cats and dogs in California in 2016. We shall see. They have a pretty strong drought going on here.
Whatever the case, the commissions from this have become the majority of my income. It's worked so well for producers in the past, I figured everyone would renew. With all this El Nino talk, it's not happening.
I'm afraid I'm going to be looking for a job shortly.
From what's I'm seeing, the El nino should have an effect in Jan-March, but not so much the rest of the year.
If anyone has any data for California that would indicate a potential for a drier fall in 2016 please share it with me. I've found this:
