Maybe consider timing as much as anything. The gotta have it now crowd always talks like they are the way forward, but they run out of money pretty fast when things cycle back down. The key is to not do the same and hopefully be in a position to buy when real opportunities come up. This next year should have a lot of guys pushing a pencil that may have never done a cash flow (never had to) and it may mean some changes. A lot of farmland is not in the hands of farmers that intend to take it with them when they die (I do) and instead investors and heirs own the ground. These folks are not typically long time holders and a significant correction in price may bring a lot of that land out for sale (before it goes down more or whatever the pitch is at the time - the opposite of they are not making any more of it).
