Life's but a walking shadow | I haven't done the research but it seems to me that poor grain prices often lead to poor livestock, poultry & milk prices simply because cheap grain leads to overproduction and the prices of livestock & milk falls faster than the lower costs of cheap feed. The livestock fellows complained a lot about the cost of feed but expensive grain allowed livestock prices to increase rapidly.
In the end I don't think cheap feed is that good for any of us.
It all has to do with the ratio between supply and price. Whether it's livestock or grain it always seems that price changes 8-10 fold either direction with price. A 1% increase in supply causes a 10% decline in price and vis a versa. |
