Thanks, that explains alot.

One neighbor that has helped me out made some comments that I never quite understood that make sense now. He mentioned that landowners would be mad at him for this or that but then when he got X peanut base started, they thought the world of him when that check came in.

In the late 90s you could tell it was slowing down here but that may have been just the ag economy in general here. In 2002 I attended a farm sale that had lots of peanut equipment. I bought a older digger to convert to digging bermudagrass for what we thought was pretty cheap (50 or 100 bucks). After buying it, I had several farmers ask me if I wanted to buy all there equipment and farm peanuts so I must not have gotten such a good deal. The same neighbor I mentioned above stopped me after the sale to tell me he had an uncle that sold some nice peanut equipment for scrap price at auction a month earlier. Claimed a nicer digger than what I bought sold for $5 and lots of other stuff bringing next to nothing. There just wasn't any demand here locally.
