How are you defining "outperform"?


If HP is your definition of performance then yes ethanol/alcohol can produce some absurdly high numbers, they also produce some absurdly bad fuel use numbers.




The form of racing that I'm most into gets 900 hp out of a NA short block Chevy burning methanol.   They burn 2 gallons/mile while racing.
