Subject: RE: It depends where

Warburg, AB
NE Ridger - 9/5/2015 17:40

Tara Farms - 9/5/2015 13:41

400 acre of ground should require about 300 hrs tops in work -- How many working folks can live off 300 hours a year ????

That kinda depends on where those 400 acres are located and how they are farmed.

Furrow irrigation can require an hour/acre of work just for the irrigation.

Long story short they have 400 acres paid for, grow corn and beans, and with 1 working parent have 5hrs/acre on average for a 9-5 equivalent. Obviously this is seasonal and should be treated so, but should be able to make things work. Ultimately financial viability is directly correlated to a willingness to make it work.
