Agreed.  There's plenty of value in all of the discussion here if you sift through it and can take the aggregate of the information shared, though.  Only listening to somebody who has a bias which corresponds to what you see out your back door is a waste of what can be a pretty good resource, if you can realize that everybody has backyarditis to one extent or another.  Most of all, this forum is a great historical resource to show that everything old is new again.  How marvelous it would be if we had a century of discussions in a format like this to look at.
