Death comes to us all. Life's but a walking shadow
Just thinking off the top of my head.
Here in the US we use 10 barrels of gasoline per capita per year. The average household is 2.54 persons. The national ave. price of gasoline is expected to be slightly over $2.00 in a few weeks, half of what it was last year this time. This means that 10 barrels x 42 gallons/ barrel x 2.54 people x $2 equals $2,133. So effectively every household just got a $2000 increase in wages. This means that 315 million x 420 gallons x $2 or $264 billion dollars just got handed to consumers to spend.
Meanwhile we use about 5 million barrels of diesel per day moving stuff around. It too just became $2 cheaper (+/-) or $153 billion dollars per year cheaper to do business.
Now, just for example a new car lease is $200-$300 per month so that $2000 up above is the better part of the cost of driving a new car or some other big ticket consumer item.
And who are going to be the losers? Those people who own oil wells. And who are they? Ye, the 1/10 of the 1 percent, who don't buy anything anyways except politicians.
