I'm with you Pitt. I think grain prices are on a new plateau. Using western Canadian crops as an example.

My first years of farming 99-2005, average cash wheat was $3.75- to maybe $5.00. Now 5.75 is low end and $6.50 is common. Canola was $7-9. $10 was a great price. Now we get nervous when canola gets down to $10.

If margins are thin now, one of the biggest factors that is in our control is living costs, land costs and how much shiny new machinery is in the shed.
