Washington, Kansas & Lincoln, Nebraska | I drove a '75 Ford B-600 school bus for about 4 years. It was brand new when I started driving it. Every other year I had to replace the boot between the shifter and the axle. For some reason it would rupture, allowing heavy gear grease into the shifter. That would be enough to keep it from shifting out of low. I'd clean the shifter, install a new boot and lube the shifter with the light oil it called for. We were then good to go for another round until it did it again. |
