Subject: btw.. Sugar Cane aphid.

We scouted and found Sugar Cane aphids in our sorghum fields yesterday.. not at treatment levels yet.. and fingers crossed that we can run the clock out on these.. "suckers."

but given a pest that can go from 1 to 3 in 3 days.. to 9.. to 27.. to boo koo within a week..  like they say.. need to scout fields every 2 days until in the clear for about another month...

We're gonna have sorghum this year.. but.. it's not the save all solution either.. especially with the costs involved to fight this bug..  at $20 per application x multiple app's.. that chews through income pretty quickly.

One problem is that if you take your beneficials out.. the aphids which are tougher to kill multiply unchecked.. so visit with your agronomist or extension agent and start scouting fields.. nasty bugger...

"always something."
