Subject: RE: PFT Minnesota

Barnum, IA
Field conditions were pretty good here this year for planting. But for some reason it seemed like the soil just didn't want to warm up. Then throw in the cool wet weather after that…I remember lows being in the high 30's a few nights. Most of our area didn't see much ponding but the soil was just flat out saturated. Fast forward to June when the crop really greened up and started to grow then it looked like a record crop but the damage had been done. There is a lot more uneven corn than a guy thinks out there. Don't know if this had anything to do with yield but I believe we had over a week and a half of no sunshine from that smoke from the Canadian fires before tasseling.

Anyway we will have a good crop "here" no record for us. Most of Iowa will have pretty good crops overall as well. I don't see Iowa being much better than last year but we could be close to the record of 181 if we have great test weight but no where near 200.
