South Georgia | What is the cost of losing your topsoil? Think about your ground that no longer has any topsoil left, and consider the yields that land produces.
I consider the value of the cover crop to be equal to the cost of buying and applying enough topsoil to replace what would have gone down the creek. I quantify this amount by looking at my neighbors conventional tillage fields. So far as I can tell the cover crop is paying for itself, except for maybe on the flattest sandy land. | |
