We had some stuff like that one year, cob was a bugger.    Had to run the cylinder up in the 400 rpm range while hunting for the concave setting, finally got it so the cobs were mostly intact but some fractured.   Of course then there was the kernel damage so we got the end rows done and went elsewhere.
