it is not surprising at all really for Nebraska. Southeast Nebraska produces way more crops than the dark green panhandle. In fact, it would surprise a lot of folks how much pasture is in Nebraska. If you are bearish and looking for a reason to pump Nebraska yields, you better look to the northeast.
Yeah, but look at all that grass they have. Those calves aren't going to be hitting the feedlots until they are +900 lbs, that is bearish on feed usage. They will keep all their heifers and build a herd for future demand, but short term it lowers the feed demand.
Northeast NE looks about the same as last year, and so far we've been spared the major hail events that wiped out a lot of acres last year. |
