Sounds like a Haldex Quick Change brake.
Are you saying it fell apart and you are trying to put it back on? Or you have a new one and can't get it to lock?
The roll pin style ones are tough as a4t mentioned but also tough to. Get out. They're often called a "Babcock" clutch brake. The quick change style like you have are definitely the fastest.
