it is not surprising at all really for Nebraska. Southeast Nebraska produces way more crops than the dark green panhandle. In fact, it would surprise a lot of folks how much pasture is in Nebraska. If you are bearish and looking for a reason to pump Nebraska yields, you better look to the northeast. Most of the irrigation acres are average. I would guess that is because a lot of the corn on corn and beans on corn don't look so hot because it was too cold and too wet when it was planted.
