When you first fire up the engine and within a minute or two run it at full throttle, I'd expect to see the 55 psi number. That is where the oil pressure regulator opens. If you don't see that 55 psi number, adjust the pressure regulator in 2 or 3 turns. It is located on the oil filter side of the block and takes a 3/4" socket. As the oil gets hot, the regulator stays closed all the time and your pressure is dependent upon oil pump volume and how many leaks there are inside the engine. Straight 30 weight oil will carry about 3 psi more than 15W-40 oil when hot.
