Here's a table I put together for another purpose in which I ranked the states by 2014 production. Granted two of the top three are in the West but Indiana still beats South Dakota when yield is included even with a serious discount for the weather so far in 2015. And observe that Ohio & Missouri are not that far behind South Dakota as well.
