If you had corn or wheat prior the N from the ams is very stable and helps balance the C:N rstio

The S is sulfate S and we aren't getting the acid rain we use to so now we need to apply S.

On higher then ideal mg soils the extra sulfur can bond with the mg and leach it off via epson salts if adquate drainage is there. Lowering mg to 10-12% on a teens or higher soil you see good things.
