I'm not sure what the fascination with model trains is! All little boys (me, at 40 included) are still amazed by them! I don't have a layout, nor does my son. Just the regular oval. We can watch that thing go round and round for hours. I've always wanted to make a real layout with buildings, houses, switches, and such. Time and lack of knowledge (of how to hook all of that up) hinders that though!
