CCC built barracks because some projects lasted years, like state parks with lakes. The spillway at Beed's Lake NW of Hampton is spectacular, no concrete, all stone stacked carefully. ![spillway beeds lake state park spillway](http://iowastateparks.reserveamerica.com/webphotos/IA/pid610145/1/540x360.jpg)
There were multiple POW camps in Iowa and I presume all over the US during WW2. There are histories on line like: http://www.iptv.org/iowapathways/mypath.cfm?ounid=ob_000334

I visited that museum last summer.

Googling Algona POW only turned up 28,300 hits.
There is some Eldora history on line too. I think I saw an exhibit about the POW camp at the county historical museum on the north side of town when I found it open once last year. And maybe it was at a county fair a couple years ago.
