| If your ph is 5.0 it's going to take more than 3.5 tons of lime to get it raised to where it should be. On our soils it would take 8-9 tons. However, it doesn't do much good to apply over 3 tons at a time so will take several years to et the ph up where you want it. Based on that I wouldn't scimp on the potash though I'm not sure of the economical return of applying 400# at one shot. If it was me I would consider applying 300# ahead of next year's crop if it's corn & then 200# ahead of the following year's crop then have it resampled
We have found the fastest way to get fertility raised is a 2 yr corn, 1 year bean rotation. Have tried fertilizing each year ahead of the crop in a corn/bean rotation but didn't seem to raise the P & K levels as well as the 2/1 rotation and the 2/1 didn't use anymore fertilizer other than extra nitrogen for the 2nd yr corn. | |
