My uncle used to run a propane service truck many, many years ago and he just used forklift cylinders from the plant he worked at. Had the tank setup in plain sight in the front of the bed and never got hassled about it. Don't know if that would float now. He offered me the entire system when he retired and sold the truck but, upon investigation, with no readily available industrial source for propane, it was not feasible for me to run it on my work truck.
For the added HP - it works well for diesels. Just like nitrous for gas motors only it works with the normal amount of fuel where, with nitrous, you have to introduce more fuel when it is being used. The expansion of the propane gas actually cools the intake air charge so the added benefit with a diesel is that it doesn't try to melt your pistons while making the extra horses. | |
