That being said with out the plant breeding and Chems we would be raising 110 bushel corn on good ground . Of coarse corn would also bring $10 a bushel or more if world population were still at current levels And yes simple stupid has there place Just my thoughts JB
aray63 - 7/9/2015 11:04 Would the young bucks got anything done in the 50s 60s 70s 80s Having tectnolgy equipment on balers choppers combines planters tractors. Holy cow you young bucks are being taken through the ringer by theses equipment compineys Im sure alot of us older folks just wish we could buy a plane old 4020 1256 4455 mangum what ever instead of all the high priced teck stuff. oh well Im sure this will make me poplular ha archie

I don't agree with that at all. I still think if we didn't have non gmo's or the tech we would still be raising good crops.

Ingredients to big yields are enough plants in the ground, feed the plants and weather. Weather is key to everything.

Our biggest average on yields total over a harvest happened several decades ago when we got perfect weather here. We still farm with older equipment and do not plant non gmo corn and make the same yields as others close by who use the latest equipment and gmo seed. Some years we make a little more. Believe it or not but a lot of chemicals have been around a long time. A lot of em is the same thing but is a combo of old chemical just rebranded and sold as something new.

The main thing is understanding how to feed the plant and keep it happy. We have come a long way in that regards.
