Northeast Indiana (Auburn) | The wife and I took a few days to go to Louisville, Ky for a graduation party for my oldest Nephew's daughter. We left on July 3rd and took I-69 from Fort Wayne to Indy then took I-65 to Louisville. In 50 years I have never saw such poor corn and soybeans. Just south of Fort Wayne to Gas city there are a lot of drowned out spots with the corn about knee high and yellow then it gets worse. The first sign of good corn and soybeans was West of Columbus and that only lasted about 20 miles. I wish I would have tried to take some pictures going 70mph but never had much luck. Overall the soybeans that did not drown out will make a crop but there are several acres that are just not there. I saw one guy trying to plant his Deere sprayer when he was turning around in water in a soybean field. If Cris Hurt of Purdue still thinks In. will have a bumper crop this year you guys to the West side of the State will have to build a lot of bins to hold your 400bpa corn crop. |
