Saginaw Bay Area - Michigan

do the math disk rip $18 per acre, field cultivator- 2 passes-$28 per acre =$46 per acre for tillage costs. an extra 30 bu. per acre at $4 corn is $120 per acre. then whose wallet will be full. just my two cents worth. fyi these tillage prices came from iowa custom rate survey chart

No offense, but 28 x 2 is 56.

18 + 56 = 74

120 - 74 = 46 (advantage of tillage vs notill)

Gross revenue of conventional (using your math) gives $46 additional per acre. Is there equipment and operator cost involved in the tillage contract pricing? If so, maybe the winner is not so well defined.

This is my first season trying notill on some of our soys. The tilled beans definitely look "better" at this stage. I've read enough to believe that my answer won't be determined until after they are at the elevator.
