Fan GOOD. No fan BAD. Small fan way better than no fan.

Wheat sweats, soybean pods mold, weeds seeds in most crops are green at harvest time and need air to cure out. On a good hot sunny 85 degree day the crop going in the bin is probably way hotter from the sun hitting it. Getting it cooled with a fan is good management. Cooling the crops in the bins also slows the insects down. Running fan in winter for a bit to really cool the grain makes it much better for storing way into the next summer.

Edit: a decent fan and air flow will let you get in the field when normally you would wait 1 more day for it to dry. The sun will still dry crops faster in the field, but the flexibility good air flow in a bin gives you.......................................
