Nevada, Iowa | Kind of working with a vague memory but it seems like Mom used to salt down her asparagus patch. The plants would tolerate a high slat level but encroaching bromegrass and other plants wouldn't. Hopefully others can verify, don't do it based on my flaky data base. Edit- a quick read thru google search would indicate Mom was just lucky not to have killed the patch, proceed with utmost caution if you use salt
