Interesting tidbit about scouring rush:
Scouring rush takes up a lot of silica into the stalk. Due to this, it has an almost sandpaper quality to it. Pioneers would take bundles of the stuff and use it to scour pots. Hence the name.
I suppose it's not too good for your sickles, though…
