Kankakee, IL | I am growing a small amount of spring wheat this year. Fairly accomplished at the SRWW and figured i just needed to know if I can raise the same quality of HRSW as a farmer in SD. Planted mine on 4/6 and heading occured about 3 weeks ago. Only 10 days after the SRWW. Curious about your inputs, specifically N. How much total N do you apply and when? What is your yield goal? Average yields on the SRWW for the farm are 90-100 bu. Have made 105 a few times. Yields this year will probably be more like 80-90. Rough winter and 15" rain since May 1. Not the ideal situation for filling out heads with all the cloudy wet weather. | |
