| A couple quick comments:
* as already stated, nitrate test strips provide a general range not a precise measure of nitrate concentration.
* mg/l (i.e., milligrams per liter) = ppm (parts per million)
* 45 mg/l nitrate = 10 mg/l nitrate-N (, agronomists normally discuss nitrate concentrations in terms of the N contained in the nitrate (i.e., nitrate-N, 23% of the nitrate concentration).
* 100 ppm nitrate = 23 ppm nitrate-N, the original poster will need to look at the the color chart he used to interpret the test strips to see if the units for the #s are nitrate or nitrate-N
* the table attached below provides some general guidelines for interpreting nitrate levels in tile water.
