On 6/9/2015 it got a little warmer in the eastern edge of the James river valley than what it was up in the hills. Here is a chart and table that compares the air temp at 6 ft above ground and the air temp at the soil surface at the two locations. Also is a table showing when the rain started which was close to the time when the temperature dropped. There was a cell that produced some hail that wiped out some soybeans about 4.5 miles sse of where the temps were recorded in the hills.
