Subject: RE: Micro farmer needs advice...

Winchester, Ohio
In this year's patch, the grass and pigweed has shot up to knee high in a very short period of time. Real frustrating! The only good thing is the corn looks great and is 4' tall and should be pushing tassels in 2-3 weeks. We have received 4" or more rain in the last 9 days.

I know 2-4,D will do ok early on and has some corn restrictions (corn size or use drop nozzles, not using near tassel time, etc.). I have read that Banvel or Dicamba should not be used on corn grown for seed???

Does Prowl come in quantities less than 2 1/2 gallon? What about Impact? Remember, I am only treating one acre of corn.

I am mostly looking at solutions for next spring so I no longer have this problem. I do a pre till burn down of glyphosate in late April, wait one week then till and plant (antique 2 row planter). I know this tilling is also prepping a seed bed for the weed seed at the same time. The manual weed control I have been doing is too time consuming and just isn't cutting it anymore...plus I am not a kid...I turned 50 last fall.

I appreciate the input, any more suggestions?

Thanks, Tony
