Will the radish try to go to seed instead of tuber growth when being planted this early?

I can't wrap my mind around the radish using nutrients from the corn during tassel and ear fill. Does it just basically sit dormant until the canopy opens during dry down? Is this a silage corn crop or is the cover grazed in the fall to use what ever it might take off the top end of the corn yield?
