Honestly, I think you are SOL. 

My advice to you would be to make sure the alfalfa is dead BEFORE you plant the beans.

Actually, my advice is to plant corn after alfalfa - not beans.  And I actually had this conversation this week.  And I laid out my reasons why. The situation you are facing is one of those reasons.
