Southwest Illinois | This picture doesn't say much other than one is taller than the other. The real answer lies in why is one taller? I suspect both the short corn and the tall corn are at the actual same growth stage. I suspect the taller corn is not more mature, it is taller because it has elongated more between the nodes which does not correlate well with yield. The important factor will be if it increases yields above the cost of equipment, material and extra time. That debate has been going on for decades with not a lot of clear cut answers. | |
