I think the biggest questions/information/criteria is how much do you need to do in one day. How big are the windrows? Baling time frame once dry?

I started with a Gehl 1450...10-20 acres a day was all I dared to try

Moved up to a JD 466....30 acres was a frequent amount to try

Next a JD 468 and now a JD 469. Now it's hard to get enough mowed down
