Subject: More on buffers

McLeod County, MN
Here is an article from the Minneapolis Star and Sickle.

Looks like they are estimating 110,000 acres affected right now, with more to be impacted once farmers figure out that in order to get into a CRP program they need to put in a full 30' buffer, not the 16'.5" buffer signed into law by mush-mouth. Very clever on the part of the legislature.

I did some simple math. With 110-125k acres into buffers now and a cost of around 5-8k/ acre the state of MN just scooped up around $550 million- $1 billion dollars of free land.

They could have done the farmers a favor and made ALL of these new buffers NO HUNTING or TRESPASSING. What sense does it make to put in the habitat to get these critters to thrive and then go out there and blast away on them during hunting season. Lots of poison in the well right now.
