Subject: RE: Hog manure question

King City, Mo
Where's the barn gonna be located? Near anyone's house?

Landowners east of here sold off for hog farms and then have sued twice because of smell and got major settlements.

If you have a cranky neighbor that doesn't like the smell of hogs they could make life miserable for you with gov agencies. If they are normal farmer folks might atleast ask your neighbor. It's the we all want cheap food but don't want the smell of poo in their back yard. We eat our fair share of bacon, ham and tenderloin at my house so I'm not anti hogs. Just don't urk off the neighbors.

If it's just other corn fields or bean fields out in BFE then go for it.

The fertilizer would be nice to have. I'd look to see what your soil test levels are and what typical manure analysis runs as Id your already VH in Something tonnage more of it can complex something else. Long term manured fields tend to yield awesome two generations of farmers later.
