I used to use 1 bu of winter rye per acre after beans. Got tired of paying $18 per bu for rye. Last year I bought bin run wheat off a neighbor for $5. I planted it at 1.5 bu/acre and then no-tilled corn into the living wheat this spring. Here is a couple pics of it:
