Subject: RE: Hog manure question

It can be worth it as far as being a great source of nutrients and will help build soils. But How does that translate into dollars? If you have to buy all the application equipment and hall it and how far may make it hard to justify but if they are applying it for a reasonable price and the manure is free then at would be great.

I would also keep a close eye on them when they apply it and make sure they don't apply whenever they want but when the soil is dry/hard enough. Idk if it would be drag line or tanker but compaction and mudding it in would be a concern.

As far as selling the land that's up to you. I would figure long term the money that could have been made on the ground if you would keep it vs the money you will make in selling the land plus the fertilizer value of the manure but don't forget it will cost to get the manure applied so figure that into the long term equation. Make Sure you price the cost application vs the cost of purchasing and applying commercial fertilizer.

Sorry for no yes or no answer there are variables to figure and every situation is different.
